Meet the speaker
Ingrid Hibbard
President & CEO, Pelangio Exploration Inc.
From growing up in Timmins, Ontario—at the heart of Canada’s mining industry—to leading exploration efforts in Canada and Ghana, mining has always been part of Ingrid Hibbard’s lifeblood. The daughter of a prospector, Ingrid’s passion for discovery runs deep, driving a career that spans early-stage exploration, mine development, and major acquisitions.
As CEO of Pelangio Exploration, Ingrid has led strategic land acquisitions in both Canada and Ghana, including securing the Detour gold mine property, which became the foundation for Detour Gold Corp.—a company that ultimately reached a $5B+ market cap. She also negotiated the acquisition of a district-sized land package adjacent to the 70 Moz Obuasi Mine in Ghana.
Beyond exploration, Ingrid has served on corporate boards, advising on governance, risk management, and executive leadership. She has seen firsthand how mining transforms communities—from the 2,000 jobs created at Detour Lake Mine to the Ghanaian Pelangio accountant now investing in his daughter’s education.
A lawyer by training and a mining leader by experience, Ingrid is a staunch advocate for responsible mining and the industry’s future.
Because in mining, the next discovery is always ahead—and gold has always been worth the search.
