Women on Boards Roundtable
Next Meeting: Tuesday, January 18th
3-4:30 pm PST
/ 6-7:30 pm EST
We meet on the third Tuesday of each month.

Our next Women on Boards meeting features Beverly Behan, the author of Becoming a Boardroom Star, which launched September 30, 2021 as Amazon’s #1 Hot New Release in corporate governance.  Bev Behan is a global expert on board effectiveness, having worked with nearly 200 boards across the US and around the world over the past 25 years, primarily boards of public companies.  In her works, she’s interviewed thousands of directors about what distinguishes truly outstanding directors from their peers – and what can detract from director performance and board leadership. Becoming a Boardroom Star was developed from these conversations.

During this presentation, Beverly will cover...

  • The Boardroom Landscape:  Different ways boards function in the third decade of the 21st century.  Why governance is a team sport – and how director expectations have advanced.
  • Welcome to the Boardroom:  Making the most of your director orientation program.  From the executive suite to the boardroom: The single biggest challenge in this transition – and how to overcome it.  The New Director 360 – an innovation from the F100.
  • Hallmarks of a Boardroom Star:  Five key factors that set boardroom stars apart from their peers? And five pitfalls directors should be careful to avoid.
  • Board Leadership - Where a Boardroom Star becomes a Boardroom Champion:  What distinguishes a “boardroom champion” from a “preservationist”?  Stepping into a committee chair or Lead Director/Board Chair role. The biggest shortcoming of board leadership today.
