Meet the Speaker
Irán Hopkins
Partner, Akerman LLP
Irán Hopkins is a Partner in Akerman LLP’s Real Estate Department, where she advises clients across a range of industries in real estate and business transactions and day-to-day operations, including structuring ownership, joint ventures, debt financing, private M&A transactions, commercial contracts, purchase and sale of real estate, commercial and residential leasing, construction and development, property management, insurance planning and risk management, business succession planning, disputes, branding, licensing, and intellectual property rights.
Irán Hopkins is also an expert in California cannabis regulatory compliance, and a member of Akerman’s national cannabis team, advising landlords, tenants, lenders, legacy operators, new operators, investors, and other stakeholders in the cannabis industry on establishing new operations, state and local business licenses and land use permits, regulatory compliance, and getting products to market. Irán is ranked top tier Nationwide for Cannabis Law by Chambers USA 2019 and 2020, and was recognized as a Trailblazer in Cannabis Law by The National Law Journal’s 2018-2019 rankings.
Irán serves as a Commissioner on the Commission on Disability for the City of Los Angeles, appointed by Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti to a term ending June 30, 2023. She is also a sustaining member of the Junior League of Los Angeles.
Irán grew up living and traveling throughout México, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, and California. She is a native Spanish speaker.
